Theme Thursday - Telephone

Telephone Booths - a thing of the past?  I assume so.  These booths are in Scotland at Fort George.  There is something about them that Americans find cool.  Like double-decker buses in London.  Maybe it's the red color.  I don't know.  I wonder if there will be any to take pictures of on my next trip to the UK?

For more TT's, go here.

they look a little out of place..and the white barriers are pretty ugly. We don't have phone booths in the US anymore, so i suppose Superman has had to relocate to London...

We got cheap with our phone booths! Remember when it was cold and you could go inside and have a private conversation? I think that they did away with them because in the cities, homeless people were using them as shelters.

I love them too! The color. The design. I hope they are still there. In the US they are an endangered species.

I somehow think London will keep them...I hope so anyway!

I guess American phone booths are so "sterile" both in aesthetic and in location (often away from a building).

Those phone booths just seem functionally pleasing.

Well just be glad the loony left Labour London council had to buckle to public outcry when in the 0's that actually got rid of almost all the red boxes and put in NY style yellow phone bubbles. At vast expense they slowly started replacing the plastic ones with the old style phone booths again--its just not London without them. They also started getting rid of double deckers but that didn't last either.
